Staying connected

Local SIMs work well in cities and along the lake; high pasture and some valleys do not.

What to expect

Bishkek, Osh, Karakol, and much of the Issyk-Kul road have mobile data. Song-Kul, Ala-Kul, and forest valleys often do not. Download maps offline. A local SIM or eSIM is usually straightforward for unlocked phones; operators and tourist eSIM products change, so we do not freeze a brand recommendation here.
