Money, cards, and cash

Cities take cards more often than pastures. Carry some som, and do not assume every yurt has a terminal.

A practical mix

ATMs and card payments are common in Bishkek and increasingly in Karakol and larger lake towns. Mountain camps, small guesthouses, and drivers’ extra stops are often cash in Kyrgyz som. US dollars are sometimes discussed for larger invoices; your booking confirmation will say how Oasia invoices you.

What we will not pretend

Exchange rates, ATM fees, and card acceptance change. We do not publish a fake ‘daily budget’ that pretends to be your trip. Ask for a quote on the journey you actually want.
